Losing Weight Via Jogging

Is jogging a good way to lose weight? Around four months ago I asked myself this very question; I was about to start on a keep fit program and was thinking about the best ways to lose weight and to exercise. I really did not want to go to all of the effort and hassle of going out jogging if it was not going to work.

I am a person who likes a challenge; in the past I have managed to “stop stuttering” and achieve fluency after having this form of speech impediment for eighteen years. Learning to overcome a stutter is in fact rather similar to attempting to lose weight; they each take a lot of determination, a positive attitude, and a willingness to work hard. There is also a pot of gold waiting at the end of the rainbow for those who are ultimately successful. I sell patio doors and upvc doors which means that any exercise needs to be completed in the evenings.

In the end I decided to give jogging a go in any case; even though I was not entirely sure it would be beneficial to me. But what harm could it do? In reality it surely must do me some good.

My first jog was less than impressive. I had planned a fairly small route – well it was the first time. In the end I must have stopped about four times to catch my breath – it was either that or risk having a heart attack, yes it was that bad! When I returned home I was rather shocked at just how unfit I actually was.

I continued to jog each and every day. I must say that it is actually rather therapeutic and it is a really good way to clear your mind. It can however be rather boring and at times quite painful. I have been quite amazed at just how much my stamina has built up over the last few months and I am now able to run two miles without stopping, at a fairly quick speed as well.

I am pleased to report that I have managed to lose a lot of weight in a fairly short space of time. I am not going to rest on my laurels however as I really want this to be a change of lifestyle forever rather than just a fad.
